essential, unobtrusive furniture

plyne is a small furniture studio founded by architect samuel debartolo in tucson, arizona. it began with the need to furnish a compact apartment with a few pieces that could do more than one job and age well in daily use.

the studio designs simple, adaptable objects—often from plywood and other honest materials—that are solid, durable, and built to last. forms are direct and unadorned, with construction kept as clear as possible so you can understand how each piece is made.

behind every design is a belief that the objects we live with every day should be essential, unobtrusive, and deeply functional. each piece is meant to quietly support the way you live, while leaving room for your own habits, improvisations, and meanings.
